FM: Wildside Video Shoot
The M Club, Crewe, England,
Sunday July 26th
2009.
At Midday on an overcast
Sunday in July we met outside The M Club in
Crewe, for this was to be the venue for the
shooting of our new promo video for brand new
song “Wildside”. There were the five band
members, Steve & Smudge crew members, Anthony
Critchley & Adrian Hall who were in charge of
filming, directing etc Dave T and his lovely
wife Tiff were in charge of backdrop
manufacturing, Daniel Bamber & Josh Devine
playback & lighting, Phil Mathews photographer
and not forgetting our good friend Mark
Palethorpe who’s just an all round good chap and
willing helper.
The M Club is an old
converted Cinema and a fantastic live venue, Ant
was happy because it had loads of dark, dank,
spooky corridors to film in. The gear was
unloaded and set up on the stage, and it was
time for lights, camera, action. “Wildside”
belted out the P.A and sounded really great this
loud. We were put through our paces with Ant &
Adrian directing, giving us instructions on what
they wanted from us. It’s a great song to rock
out to so we were having a blast. Paul Anthony
(Rock Radio 106) came down for a visit and loved
the track.
When Ant had all the footage
he needed from the stage the gear was set up on
the venue floor “in the round” and we were
filmed by Ant who was being pushed around on a
flight case by poor Smudge. Ant took us off to
the dark, dank depths of the club to do some
moody special effect shots and at around 8.00pm
he announced he had enough material and we could
call it a day. The gear was packed away and we
headed off up the road to the nearest curry
house for a bite to eat. We all agreed we’d
never had so much fun doing a video and the
track got a huge thumbs up from all who heard
it. We said our goodbyes and thanked everyone
for all their hard work and headed off in all
directions for the journey home.
